Joan Ascheim, BSN MSN


Bio

Ms Ascheim’s holds a Master’s Degree in nursing from the University of Virginia and has practiced in public health for over twenty years. She has served in a variety of public health leadership positions, including the Maternal and Child health bureau chief, the administrator for Family and Community Health Services and for the last four years as the chief for the Bureau of Policy and Performance Management for the New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services. Ms. Ascheim is a 2004 graduate of the Northeast Regional Public Health Leadership Institute. She has served on a number of national committees, most recently on the Robert Wood Johnson, Turning Point Performance Management National Excellence Collaborative, ASTHO’s Public Health Performance Policy Committee and PHAB’s Assessment Process Work Group. Ms. Ascheim has led public health performance management initiatives within the New Hampshire Division of Public Health including the Multi-State Learning Collaborative initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Ms. Ascheim is also leading New Hampshire’s strategic planning/performance improvement process for public health based on the assessment of the National Public Health Performance Standards. In this process, Ms. Ascheim has facilitated all meetings of the New Hampshire Public Health Improvement Action Plan Advisory Committee. This committee is charged with guiding a process to improve the state’s public health system to provide essential services. Additionally, Ms. Ascheim is leading the state Public Health Regionalization Initiative that is working towards building a local public health infrastructure currently lacking in New Hampshire.
