E-D-I and Affiliates: Governance and Communications

When:  Mar 3, 2021 from 04:00 PM to 06:00 PM (ET)

Join us in a two-hour training designed to help Affiliates generate culture shifts for communication and governance that will help build pathways towards diversity, equity and inclusion and long term quality improvements practices. This session will help Affiliates navigate APHA's Equity-Diversity-Inclusion Self Assessment Toolkit utilization by building an understanding of culture as a vehicle for shifting practices, orienting cultural norms towards liberation, and generating action plans for culture change.

Our facilitators for this webinar are: 

Keilah Jacques (she/ her/hers) is an Assistant Director at SOURCE, the community engagement and service-learning center for Johns Hopkins Schools of Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine, and an instructor in the department of Health Behavior and Society where she creates and teaches courses on social justice and anti-oppression. Keilah has experience architecting and facilitating workshops on systems change management and culture shift, anti-oppressive/ anti-racist practice, microaggression, allyship, critical pedagogies, and liberatory consciousness development, and human centered design.

 Kristen Wright (she/her/hers) is the Director of the Office of Community Engagement and Civic Learning at George Mason University and affiliate faculty in the School of Integrative Studies where she teaches courses on leadership and community engagement. Kristen has experience facilitating workshops on critical pedagogy, service-learning course design, and confronting bias.

 Maneet Kaur (she/her/hers) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Maneet has facilitated trainings on microaggressions and LGBTQ+ Upstander/Allyship.
