Overview:

This presentation will introduce the Greater Rochester LARC Initiative, a successful community-level program for increasing adolescent use of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) in Rochester, NY. It will compare data on teen pregnancy and adolescent LARC use in New York State overall and in Rochester using data from the New York State Perinatal Data Profile and the Youth Risk Behavior Survey. It will provide an overview of the Contraceptive CHOICE Project, how that program informed the development of the Greater Rochester LARC Initiative, and the innovative components of the LARC Initiative's unique implementation of a "community detailing" model. It will review the results of our recently published article, "Impact of the Rochester LARC Initiative on Adolescents' Utilization of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception," and will review the LARC Initiative's future goals of dissemination and implementation across New York State.
