Trained as an epidemiologist, and a member of the APHA Epi section, I spent 10 years as a Health Services Research Analyst at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and recently joined the amazing research group at the Sealy Center on Aging here at UTMB. My prior experience, dating back to college, was in several health care and public health settings including: physical therapy, public health laboratory, food, nursing home and day care inspection and more recently in infection control, communicable diseases surveillance and cancer registry epidemiology.
I am a past-president of our Texas affiliate and am currently the editor of our Texas Public Health Journal, a quarterly, peer-reviewed benefit of membership publication of the Texas Public Health Association, which is now indexed with EBSCO. I am also currently our webmaster (result of the "single volunteer" phenomenon). As well, I am currently the Texas ARGC and the Region VI Rep to the CoA. TPHA's web address is www.texaspha.org.
