Ms. Jessica M. Boyer


Bio

Jessica Boyer is the Associate Director for Assessment and Accreditation for the College of Public Health at Temple University. She is primarily responsible for the oversight of the accreditation process of the undergraduate and graduate programs which report to nine specialized accrediting bodies. This includes the conversion of the CEPH accredited Program of Public Health to an accredited School of Public Health. In her role, she provides administrative and programmatic support to the departments in the college under the Division of Academic Affairs. Jessica works closely with the Executive Team of the College to implement the vision and mission of the College, with a focus on the academic success of CPH students. This is done through the review and development of existing and new programs, as well as supporting collaboration between the academic departments in the College and other units, Schools, and Colleges in the University. Jessica leads the academic assessment initiatives for the College. In addition, Jessica provides representation for the College on various University committees and initiatives, including, but not limited to: the Assessment Planning Committee; First Destination Survey Committee and the Middle States 2019-2020 Reaccreditation Steering Committee. Jessica is an adjunct faculty member in the Departments of Health Services Administration and Policy and Social and Behavioral Sciences, teaching courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Before she came to Temple, Jessica worked for over 10 years at Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), one of the largest and most comprehensive public health organizations in the country. As a senior program officer, Jessica managed a multitude of public health programs addressing issues such as housing insecurity; adolescent health; out of school time programming; immigrant health; child welfare and family reunification.

Jessica is currently the President and Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Public Health Association (PPHA). She previously served as the Affiliate Representative to the Governing Council of the American Public Health Association on behalf of PPHA. Within the American Public Health Association, From 2016-2020, Jessica served as the Secretary for the Council of Affiliates.  She was the CoA Chair-Elect (2020-2021), Chair (2021-2022) and is currently the Immediate Past Chair of the CoA. During her Chair-Elect year, Jessica served in an ex-officio capacity on the ISC Steering Committee; and in her Chair year, on the APHA Executive Board (serving on the Governance and Strategic Planning committees). Through her leadership roles with the CoA, Jessica has facilitated three CoA workgroups: Align Organizational Capacity and Infrastructure; Build a Public Health Movement; Strengthen Public Health Practice.  Jessica is the recipient of the 2020 CoA Chair Citation. In addition to her service on the CoA, Jessica served on the APHA bylaws committee from 2017-2021.  She served on the APHA bylaws committee for one complete term and was re-appointed for a second term. 

Jessica earned her Master of Public Health and Master of Social Work from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts in communication and political science from La Salle University. She also holds certificates from the Northeast Public Health Leadership Institute and the Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute.
