Ms. Patricia D. VanMaanen, MS, BSN, RN

Bio

Patricia (Pat) VanMaanen has over 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Since 2001 she has worked as a nurse consultant, assisting clients with a variety of health projects, health policy, and program management. Her expertise includes assisting with the implementation of community health projects focused on clinical and preventive services, the development of methodologies and tools for conducting needs assessments and community surveys, and health policy development. Pat has provided health care and social service project management, policy analysis, technical writing, meeting coordination, and other services to state, federal, private, and non-profit agencies. 

Ms. VanMaanen holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science from Texas Woman’s University. She is a fellow in the 2024 National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health (NLAPH) Cohort 13, serves as chair for the Arizona Nurses Association Climate Change and Health Workgroup, and is a steering committee member of the Arizona Health Professionals for Climate Action. Pat also serves or has served on several boards and advisory committees including the Arizona Public Health Association (President 2012-2013), the American Nurses Association PAC Board (2015-2016) and Leadership Society (current), the Arizona Nurses Association PAC Board (2021-2023), the First Things First State Health Advisory Committee (Co-Chair), the Arizona Nurses Association Public Policy Committee, the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center Community Benefit and Health Equity Committee, and the Children’s Action Alliance Healthy Children Coalition. 

She is the 2023 Arizona Nurses Association Rory Hays Advocacy Award recipient, the 2019 recipient of the Arizona Public Health Association Harold B Woodward Achievement Award, the First Things First 2014 Champion for Young Children Award, the 2009 recipient of the Reach Out and Read Arizona Early Literacy Leader of the Year, and the 2007 recipient of the Arizona Public Health Association Senator Andy Nichols Honor Award.
