Get involved in the PHACT Campaign!

There is still time to get involved in the PHACT campaign! This summer, the ongoing debate over the federal budget and the threat of ongoing, across-the-board cuts under sequestration are putting funding for programs that protect our health at risk. Additionally, we need your help in urging Congress to move forward with legislation to reduce gun violence this year! Members of Congress need to know that supporting public health funding and reducing gun violence are vital to improving and protecting the public’s health.

Affiliates such as Montana, Iowa, Rhode Island, Kansas, Arizona and Ohio have met with their representatives and are in the process of submitting Op-eds or LTE’s to their local papers. There are so many ways to get involved:

Schedule a meeting with your members of Congress or their staff in the local district or state office to talk about public health.

Submit a letter to the editor or op-ed, which is a great tactic to help build awareness of the importance of public health and help shape the national debate.

  • Tips for publishing letters and op-eds are available in the PHACT Campaign toolkit.
